ABOUT DISTRICT
District Profile

Jagdalpur is a district of Chhattisgarh. Jagdalpur is located at 19.07°N 82.03°E. It has an average elevation of 552 metres (1811 feet) & height of 2000 ft plateau from sea level . The city is located on the south bank of the Indravati River The district has an area of 14974 sq km. Jagdalpur District is bounded on the north by Kanker and Dhamtari District, on the south by Kondagaon District, on the east by Nayarangpur and Koraput districts of Orissa state, on the south and southeast by Dantewada District, and on the west by Narayanpur District of Chhattisgarh state. The population of the state is 1,306,673 (2011 census). 66% of the district's population is tribal peoples like Gonds,Abhuj Maria,Darda Maria,Bison Horn Maria ,Munia Doria , Dhruva,Bhatra ,Halba etc.. Jagdalpur consists total 8 Blocks having 1461 Villages. The total forest area is 292130 ha which is more than 19 % of the total area of the district.

Jagdalpur district is divided into 7(seven) sub divisions namely Bastanar,Darbha,Tokapal,Bakawand,Bastar,Jagdalpur,Lohandiguda. The details has been shown in the table below:--
